Standing seam or exposed fastener
Standing seam panels lock together with concealed clips, so no screws sit in the weather. It is the premium option for a house and the one we recommend when the roof is meant to outlast the owner. Exposed-fastener ribbed panels are the workhorse for pole barns, equipment sheds, and shops: less expensive, fast to install, and easy to maintain as long as the screws and washers are checked over the years.

Is a metal roof loud in the rain?
Over solid decking with underlayment, a metal roof on a house sounds about like a shingle roof. On an open-framed barn with no decking, yes, you hear the rain.
Can you put metal over my old shingles?
In some cases, over a single layer with the right underlayment or furring. We inspect the deck first; metal over a bad deck is a bad job.
How long does a metal roof last compared to shingles?
Properly installed metal is generally expected to outlast asphalt shingles by a wide margin. We do not quote a number of years as a promise; the manufacturer's written warranty for the panels you choose is what you can rely on, and we give you that paperwork with the quote.
