Wind and hail damage
Wind and Hail Damage: Roof, Siding, and Gutters
After a storm crosses Pickaway County, Silcott Legacy Roofing and Exteriors inspects the roof, siding, and gutters, documents wind and hail damage with photos, and can tarp an open roof while the permanent repair is scheduled. We can meet your insurance adjuster on site. The claim itself is between you and your insurer.
What we handle
Storm Damage: what the scope can include
- Wind damage: lifted, creased, and missing shingles, torn ridge caps
- Hail damage: bruised shingles, dented vents, gutters, and siding
- Emergency tarping and temporary repairs to stop further water entry
- Photo documentation you can hand to your insurer
- Meeting the adjuster on site to walk the damage together
- Repair or replacement of the roof, siding, gutters, and windows that were hit
How a visit works
- 1
Call after the storm
Tell us what happened and what you see. If water is coming in, say so and we will talk about temporary protection first.
- 2
Inspect and document
Derek inspects the roof and the exterior and photographs every area of wind or hail damage, including the parts you cannot see from the ground.
- 3
Written scope, your decision
You get a scope for the repair or replacement. If you file a claim, the photos go with it and we can meet the adjuster. You decide how to proceed.

What storm damage looks like from the ground
Shingle pieces in the yard. Granules piled at the downspout outlets. Dents in the gutters, the downspouts, or the soft metal of a roof vent. Siding with small round chips or cracks on the side the storm came from. A neighbor's roof being replaced. Any of those means the roof should be looked at, even if the ceiling is dry.
How we handle insurance claims, honestly
We are a roofing contractor, not an adjuster and not a public adjuster. We inspect, we document, and we can meet your adjuster on your roof so everyone is looking at the same damage. We do not negotiate or settle your claim, we do not tell you what your policy covers, and we never offer to cover or waive a deductible. If someone knocks on your door offering that, be careful.
Tarping and temporary repairs
When a roof is open, keeping water out comes first. We tarp and make temporary repairs so the permanent fix can be done properly when materials and weather line up. Temporary work is described in the same written scope as the permanent work so there are no surprises.

Storm Damage questions
Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?
Get the damage documented first so you know what you are dealing with. Our inspection and photos are free. Then you can decide whether a claim makes sense given your deductible.
Will you meet my adjuster?
Yes, on your roof, at the scheduled time. Walking the damage together avoids a lot of back and forth.
Do you offer to pay my deductible?
No. That practice is dishonest and it is a red flag for storm-chasing outfits. Our office is in Circleville and we will still be here next year.
How soon after a storm can you inspect?
As quickly as the schedule allows. After a large storm every roofer in the county is busy; we tell you a real date, not a promise we cannot keep.
